Liturgical ministry is an excellent opportunity to fulfill your baptismal call of service to one another and to use the talents and gifts that God has given you.
When the Church comes together to celebrate the mass or any other sacrament, we do not gather simply as a crowd, we gather in a variety of ministries and roles.
Whether we participate through the preparation and planning or through a community role of service within the Mass, parishioner talents and gifts will help our liturgies to be truly life-giving celebrations.
Please prayerfully consider joining one of these ministries.
For more information about any of these ministries, please contact the Church Office.
"Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you". Romans 12:4-6 New Living Translation (NLT)
Lectors - proclaim the Sacred Scripture. A clear voice and commitment to serve monthly are required. Lectors can be young or old.
Commentators - welcome those present at Mass with an Introduction to the Mass. This ministry also proclaims the Universal Prayers of the Faithful and provides parish announcements. A clear voice and commitment to serve monthly are required. There is no "age requirement" for this ministry.
Music Ministry - Music is an important ministry in our celebration of the Mass on Sundays. It can be fulfilling and deeply rewarding work, it also deepens your faith and builds community. Together, we pray and learn to sing in a way that encourages the congregation to sing in mass and enjoy community as we sing together. Singing or playing a musical instrument should always be a joyous activity.
There are other ways to participate in Music Ministry than singing or playing a musical instrument. We need volunteers with good computer skills for music books or someone good with organization. These things will give you a great experience and help the music program be successful. If you are not ready personally, you can just sing among the congregation or you can just come to our Wednesday meeting to familiarize yourself with the songs to help you sing at mass.
How to Join Music Ministry?
Meetings will resume on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in the Annex when there are more members. The meeting will consist of discussing the weekly scripture, song selections, and practicing songs.
If you have any questions you can contact Mark Olins or the church office.
