"Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer." Romans 12:12
We are excited to invite all children in pre-K till 4th grade to Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW). This is a great opportunity for children to participate at their level in the Liturgy of the Word part of the Sunday Mass. St Bridget Parish is pleased to offer this for your family at the 8:00 am & 10:30 am Mass on Sundays.
The children will be invited from their parents’ pew to gather at the sanctuary before the Scripture readings with a CLW leader. The children and their leader will be given a special blessing by Fr. Simon Peter before they proceed to the side chapel in the church. After CLW, they will return to you during the Offertory and will be escorted back to you.
The program runs year-round during the 8:00 am & 10:30 am Masses. The program is not only open to members of our parish but visitors as well. There is no cost and no signup. A child may participate in many or a few Sundays as he/she wishes. All children are welcome.
If you have any questions about the Children's Liturgy of the Word or if your child has a disability or special needs, please call the church office at (985)446-6801 to make arrangements to speak with the CLW coordinator
Wanda LeBlanc.
What happens at the Children's Liturgy of the Word?
Children's Liturgy of the Word is a celebration of the "Liturgy of the Word" with children. It is an opportunity for children to hear God speak to them through their own experience and in their language. Following the Gospel, the leader of CLW invites the children to enter into a discussion of the Gospel they heard, and how they can relate it to their life. Elements of the ritual, "Liturgy of the Word," include Prayer, Scriptures, and lesson worksheets.
Who provides the Liturgy and activities?
The Liturgy is provided by parish volunteers who have had a background check performed and have gone through Safe Environment Training.
Can I be a Liturgy of the Word volunteer?
Yes. You must go through a background check and Safe Environment Training. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact the church office.
Parents, we encourage you to bring your child/children to Children’s Liturgy of the Word
at the 8:00 am or 10:30 am Mass on Sundays.
The future with children begins now. We build it up every time we take children to Mass, every time we open God’s word and read together, every time we serve the poor and needy, and every time we allow children to share in the grace that flows from the Sacraments. Children are not the future of the Church; they are the Church.
Luke 18:16: “But Jesus called the children to him and said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
SUNDAY: 7:00 am to 7:50 am & 10:00 am to 10:20 am
Monday through Friday: 7:30 am to 7:50 am
Examination of conscience is a review of one's past thoughts, words, actions, and omissions for the purpose of ascertaining their conformity with, or deviation from, the moral law. In other words, an examination of conscience helps you to prepare yourself by reflecting on how we have hurt our relationships with God and other people through our thoughts, words, and actions. Click below to prepare oneself with a few examples of Examinations of Conscience that can help you prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Act of Contrition: O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and fear the pains of hell, but most of all, because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and worthy of all my love. I firmly intend with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. AMEN
O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quietude.
You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.
During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.
O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem, where a storm less eternity awaits us. Amen.
